Recently, I picked a Kotatsu up in Yokohama at the request of a native English speaker. Kotatsu is one of Japan’s unique home appliances, right?
There are many things that are unique to Japan.
For example, Sudare, Yanagigouri, Geta, and something like that.
Sudare is bamboo blinds. It’s made of split bamboo and fastened
together with thread. We usually use it ouside of the window on a sunny day in summer.
Yanagigouri is a wicker trunk. It’s a kind of a clothes case.
Geta means a clog. It’s a kind of traditional Japanese footwear. It’s rare for modern Japanese people to wear it.
In addition, we can remove a Tatami and a Fusuma.
Tatami is a traditional Japanese flooring. It’s made of rice straws.
Fusuma is a Japanese room door. It’s movable like as wall.
