Hello, this is Nishida Service.
We recently received a request for pre-death belongings sorting (seizen seiri) from a customer in Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
The request came about because the customer’s uncle was moving into a care facility, and they wanted to clear out the apartment where he had been living.
The apartment has a six-tatami-mat main room with a kitchen, along with a bathroom, a toilet, a closet, and a storage space.
The home was filled with a wide variety of household items, including a bicycle outside and about three TVs inside, so there was a large amount to sort through.
The customer’s wish was, in principle, to dispose of unneeded items, while checking with them as we went along if any important documents or similar items turned up.

It is not uncommon for people to need to sort through the home they have lived in, often prompted by a move into a care facility.
Pre-death belongings sorting is not simply a matter of disposing of items. It is an important process of checking over treasured keepsakes and putting one’s surroundings in order for the life ahead.
At Nishida Service, we listen carefully to each customer’s wishes and sort through the belongings one by one with care, confirming what is needed along the way.
If you are unsure about what to keep and what to dispose of, you do not need to decide everything from the beginning.
We believe that reducing our customers’ burden as much as possible, by checking items together with them, is also an important part of our work at Nishida Service.
If you are having trouble with pre-death belongings sorting, home cleanouts, or unwanted item collection, please feel free to contact Nishida Service.
